West–Russia–West: The circulation of economic ideas

The paper serves as an introduction to the RuJE special issue on circulation of economic ideas between Russia and West. This is a contentious issue, especially among Russian economists. In this article specific pattern West–Russia–West transfer investigated. suggests that experiencing strong influence from West, leading economists developed modified Western theories, adapting them political, ideological cultural circumstances. As result, they exerted certain over next generations Among these circumstances mentions moral religious factors, peasant question, Marxism, development mathematics statistics in 1890s–1920s, unique experience building planned economy.
